This phase includes analysis of options and trade studies such as material selection, manufacturability, supply chain capabilities to ensure the best concept is selected and taken forward on the basis of lowest risk, technical compliance and lowest manufacturing cost.
Initial structural assessments using Finite Element Methods and where applicable, fluid flow assessments using Computational Fluid Dynamics are used to obtain confidence in the developed solutions.
Results are collated and stored in a central data repository in order to compare multiple alternatives, also known as performing ‘what-if’ assessments. This enables us to narrow the number and to present one concept for development into a detailed design. The remaining concepts are stored in the repository.
