What Happens When Your Bicycle Helmet Hits The Pavement?

03 August 2021, 09:00 am

We know a lot of people who love cycling, either as a weekend activity or as part of their daily commute. The one thing that is on people's mind above everything else is the aspect of safety, particularly head injuries. In this exclusive case study that we undertook, we simulated a bicycle helmet hitting the pavement.

So, what happens when your helmet hits the pavement? The image below gives us an indication. This helmet like most others is made of a plastic shell and a foam interior. The plastic hits the pavement, and the foam absorbs the resulting energy, reducing the amount of energy reaching with your head.
